Ammonium Sulfate Drying Plant
Former fertilizers factory in northern Italy.

This big engine occupies an entire building. It is a former drying plant, where liquid ammonium sulfate was converted into crystals. Ammonium sulfate was produced in the same factory, by synthesis of sulphuric acid and ammonia. Then, after being centrifugated, the liquid compund is dried into a rotary kiln, visible in the lower part of the picture.
The plant dates back to the early 50s.
